About APRODEC

A non-profit organisation founded in 1999 in Bujumbura, approved by ministerial ordinance no. 531/591 of 11 October 1999 and brought into compliance with the new ASBL law by registration act no. 530/112/CAB/2018 of 18 January 2018.

Our objective: The overall objective of the organisation is to promote participatory community development.

Our strategy: A participatory approach that supports community structures in social cohesion, the HIV/AIDS response and gender promotion, while building self-promotion capacities to improve the socio-economic situation of community members.

Where does APRODEC operate?

APRODEC is based in Bujumbura and works with grassroots communities across several provinces of Burundi (including Muramvya, Mwaro, Kirundo, Muyinga, Bururi, Makamba and Rutana).

Is APRODEC an officially registered organisation?

Yes. It is a non-profit organisation (ASBL) founded in 1999 in Bujumbura, approved by ministerial ordinance no. 531/591 of 11 October 1999 and brought into compliance with the ASBL law by registration act no. 530/112/CAB/2018.

Who does APRODEC help first?

Grassroots communities, and especially vulnerable groups: youth, women, and people affected by violence or discrimination.
